COMMUNAL was never meant to belong to just two people. It’s a shared space — for professionals of color to gather, reflect and heal together. Now, we’re inviting community members like you to help us nurture this container.

What Does It Mean to Host?

Hosting isn’t necessarily about being an expert (although we honor the expertise and lived experience our hosts bring). It’s about showing up with intention, accountability and compassion. For yourself and for others.

As a COMMUNAL host, you might facilitate a monthly Peer Support Circle using one of our reflection guides. You may guide us through a workshop on a theme like detaching worth from work, decolonizing success or exploring rest and embodiment practices. Or, maybe you envision a one-time gathering that lends your gifts and helps us build on our understanding of what it means to practice individual and collective care. We’ll assist you every step of the way — with planning calls, templates and tech support.

FAQ for Hosts

  • We welcome applications for hosting opportunities from all current members. You don’t need to be a coach, facilitator or public speaker.

    We welcome members who:

    • Have experienced the power of COMMUNAL and want to give back.

    • Are curious about creating a container with care, not control.

    • Want to build collective care without replicating grind culture.

    We especially welcome Black and Brown professionals who are deeply committed to community care and rest as resistance.

  • We’ll never leave you to figure it out alone. Hosts receive:

    • A simple hosting guide and template facilitation deck.

    • A 60-minute 1:1 with the founders for connection and co-visioning, with follow-up calls as needed.

    • Support developing and deploying event communications and technical assistance the day of.

    • Our heartfelt gratitude — and the flexibility to set your range for sliding-scale donations.

  • We believe hosting is an act of liberation. In a world that asks us to perform, rush and lead from depletion, COMMUNAL invites something else.

    Hosting is a way to:

    • Slow down and share the mic.

    • Practice vulnerability and presence.

    • Build something bigger than ourselves.
